Activity 2.2.1 – My daily water use
My Water Usage
Water Bills:
6733 October 2022, 10473 December 2022, 8977 January 2023.
6733 + 10473 + 8977 = 26183/3 Months = 8727.667 gallons/month for my whole family
8727.667/5 = 1745.533 gallons/person/month
1745.5/30 = 58.2 gallons per day for one person
Online Calculators:

Conclusion:
My family, in reality, uses about half of the predicted outcomes that I received from the water usage calculators. This is great news because that means our family will not only be paying less than predicted but we are not using as much water as expected. I believe this is due to us not watering our plants or grass, not to mention that our sprinklers are off. The average water use per day in the United States of America is about sixty gallons (per person in one day) which means that my family falls slightly below the average. One of the main reasons the gallons used might be below average is because we use the water saving faucets and shower heads in most areas of our home which help conserve water. Now that I see the impact water saving faucets and shower heads make in both the gallons used and the money we save, I will definitely be buying these same products when I move in the future. I was very interested in the first website I used called “Water Footprint Calculator” because it was more than just a generic calculator. It calculated both my predicted water use per day for my whole family as well as our footprint which showed me how much eating meat or even driving uses a large amount of water. Also, I had no idea gray water systems even existed before this assignment. I find it perplexing how we can purify wastewater and reuse it at the home level… although I'm not sure if I want to have one in my home.
