Activity 3.2.1 – Natural Resources Review

Natural Resources Concept Map

The main topic on my concept map is Natural Resources. The two main points connected to the green natural resources bubble and both Renewable-Non-Renewable Resources. These two are the most important distinction we can make about natural resources because if a item or object is Non-Renewable then their will only ever be a limited amount. This is because all Non-Renewable objects cannot be quickly replaced (located in top right yellow square). Non-Renewable Resources are also inorganic in nature. Despite Renewable and Non-Renewables differences, both are typically reusable which will help stop overuse in the future.

In the video Exploring Natural Resources the speaker (Nina Keck) states "One of the common challenges we face today in being carful not to overuse many of the earths renewable resources (Keck 5:57). This is obviously true because the overconsumption of any resource will lead to a decrease in the amount of said materials. Wood, fish and organisms are quickly replaceable but not as quickly replaceable as wind despite all three being Renewable Resources. Renewable Resources are also most organic and we also have to strive for resource sustainability. This is the main goal of many environmentalists.
