Activity 3.2.3.1 Solar Power and Energy Policy, Sergio Tello
Six-Point Critical Analysis of Current Event
My blog posting is available online at: https://envr1301-sergiotello.blogspot.com/2023/03/activity-3231-solar-power-and-energy.html
1. Exploratory
Probe basic facts and
knowledge found in the reading. (What
research evidence supports _________? Type up several facts and basic knowledge from the reading.
Relate this to what you find in other resources, prior activities for stronger
scores.))
Georgia has more than 500
acres of solar panels. This has been done mostly in the Hazlehurst community.
They have two solar farms in the Community less than a mile apart. The project
will also produce energy for 8,500 EMC households. This can help soothe the
need for irreplaceable energy sources in the long run saving prices and the
environment.
2. Diagnostic
Probe motives or causes. (Why?
(Tell your
reader why this occurs. Explain the causes in detail.))
Renewable energy is more cost
effective and environmentally sustainable over nonrenewable energy. Opening up
solar farms in locations that are unused can help ease the use of nonrenewable energy
sources dramatically over time. Just two solar farms are enough to satiate more
than eight hundred household’s energy use. It is also one of the greatest ways
for their community to make tax revenue which will help lower the poverty rate
of the Early County.
3. Cause and Effect
Causal relationships between
ideas, actions, or events. (If __________
occurs, what happens?)
If renewable energy I used
than pollution-causing nonrenewable energy is not used. If less pollution is
being created, the air is easier to breath and the water is cleaner. If Early
County uses solar energy, they wont have to pay for nonrenewable energy as
often. If the community is creating more solar plants, more jobs are also being
created. If more jobs are in a community, the poverty rate is lowered.
4. Priority
Seek to identify the most
important issue. (What is the most
important issue?)
The most important issue
is that off renewable energy over nonrenewable energy. Renewable energy is very
useful because it will be available for ever unlike nonrenewable energy. Solar
energy (being renewable) is one of the best ways for the community of
Hazlehurst to save and make money. Not to mention, solar energy does not ruin
the environment like many other forms of gathering or using energy.
5. Application
Probe for relationships
and connect theory to practice. (How does
this apply to you? How is this related to culture as we have studied so far?)
In practice, solar energy
is one of the most practical renewable energy sources we have and it works
wonders for Early County. This practice and solar panels can be expanded
everywhere that doesn’t receive heavy hailstorms in order to make energy and
lower the costs and environmental impacts that non-renewable energy creates.
6. Critical
Analyze how this
challenges your thinking/assumptions. (How
did this change your thinking? Did it? Why?)
I had no idea that solar
plants and farmland can go hand in hand because I assumed that solar plants
would take up a large amount of space. Considering I now know this to not be
the case, I see no reason why farms should not incorporate solar plants into
their facilities. This would help make the most out of their land and giver farmers
another source of income helping them and the environment. I am convinced that
this will help animal farms grow and prosper because when they are moving
animals away from previously grazed grass, you can place solar panels in their
wake.
